"Asia, mainly China, is the primary market for our cherries. Last season taught us valuable lessons. Overproduction hurt many exporters' results and made them more cautious. After last year's experience, many growers realized that quality is the top priority. They are no longer shipping some of the qualities they used to send to China. However, the situation with grapes has changed; demand in Asia has decreased, and growth in this segment is now more limited," stated Sofia Jeanneret, representative of GLS Exports.

The weather isn't helping. "A recent frost in Chile could significantly impact the harvest of several fruit varieties. Additionally, there are high transportation costs and stiff competition from other countries. In our sector, everything matters: the weather, logistics, market demand, and competition. Fruit is a product with many variables," she said.
"South Korea has been an interesting destination for Chilean blueberries, valued for their sweetness and size. It's a market that demands high quality, which encourages exporters to pay close attention to every detail of the product they send," she stated.

"Europe is the main destination for our avocados, but Chile's domestic consumption is growing and directly competes with exports. Local consumers are willing to pay very attractive prices, making the situation quite challenging for us," Jeanneret explained.
"Despite all the challenges, GLS Exports remains optimistic. We have been exporting high-quality fruit for over 25 years and are confident that if you deliver a quality product, the market will follow," Jeanneret concluded.
