"The commercial campaign for table grapes is ongoing," say owners Mimmo and Sammy Fisicaro. "The market is showing signs of recovery. After a quiet early August because of the holidays, fruit consumption is picking up as families return."
Colleroni is an Italian family-owned company that was founded in the early 1990s in the province of Syracuse in Sicily. They offer citrus fruits, pomegranates, watermelons, traditional table grapes from Mazzarrone, seedless grapes, and PGI Syracuse lemons. The company supervises every phase of production, including seed and soil selection, cultivation techniques, harvesting, packaging, and shipping. Colleroni also invests in research and development.

In the initial phase of the campaign, Sicily stood out for the early ripening of its table grapes. Since mid-July, Apulian grapes have entered the market, changing the existing dynamics. The introduction of the Italia grape variety marked the end of the Victoria season. The Italia grape is a medium-to-late-ripening white variety that is appreciated for its sweetness. Seedless grapes are pricier than traditional varieties and require less work to grow. However, prices drop with the arrival of large production volumes, such as those in Apulia from August to September.

The company also offers small quantities of netted melons alongside the grapes produced by its members. Due to the nature of the Sicilian soil, the melons ripen early and boast excellent organoleptic properties. The commercial season for melons runs from May to September. Protected cultivation occurs until June, and open-field harvesting begins in July.

The campaign for green lemons, a typical Sicilian citrus fruit, is going well. The winter rains have rejuvenated the plants and made the fruit juicier. Prices are good, and the organic lemons are in high demand. Health-conscious consumers prefer local, organic lemons for their aroma and edible peel. Quality is ensured by monitoring all production processes. State-of-the-art processing lines ensure continuity and speed in delivery. Most grapes are packaged directly in the field immediately after harvesting to minimize handling.
The company offers various packaging solutions to meet customers' needs. These include heat-sealed trays, flow packs, and cardboard and plastic crates of various sizes.
