Syrian Daraa grape production estimated at 10,000 tons

The Directorate of Agriculture in Daraa Governorate has estimated grape production for the current season at around 10,000 tons.

Hassan Al-Ahmad, head of the Department of Economics and Agricultural Planning at the Directorate of Agriculture, said the cultivated area this season reached 604 hectares, with about 302,000 trees planted.

He explained that grapes remain one of the main crops produced during this period, though the area under cultivation has decreased in recent years.

According to Al-Ahmad, the decline is linked to farmers facing difficulties in reaching their farms and carrying out basic service operations, in addition to the high costs of rehabilitating older vineyards. These factors have negatively affected both the cultivated area and production levels.
