Uzbekistan boosts melon and grape production, watermelon exports up sharply in 1H of 2025

According to preliminary data from the National Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan produced 369,300 tons of melons and watermelons between January and June 2025. This is an 8.3% increase compared to the same period last year.

Production was distributed among different types of producers:

  • Commercial farms (larger-scale farmers): 123,500 tons;
  • Household plots and small family farms (known locally as dehkan farms): 235,700 tons;
  • Agricultural enterprises and organizations: 10,100 tons.

Alongside rising production, exports also showed positive dynamics. In the first half of 2025, Uzbekistan exported 130,600 tons of watermelons worth $29.9 million, up by 52,700 tons compared to last year.

The main export destinations were:

  • Russia: 66,000 tons;
  • Kazakhstan: 44,000 tons;
  • Kyrgyzstan: 19,000 tons;
  • Belarus: 968 tons;
  • Mongolia: 618 tons;
  • Latvia: 76 tons;
  • Georgia: 66 tons;
  • Poland: 61 tons;
  • Other countries: 121 tons.

In the same period, grape production also showed growth. Uzbekistan harvested 56,300 tons of grapes, an increase of 7.8% year-on-year.

By type of producer, grape output was as follows:

  • Commercial farms: 31,000 tons;
  • Household plots and small family farms: 24,400 tons;
  • Agricultural enterprises and organizations: 900 tons.
