Since the beginning of the year, more than 8,000 tons of fruit and vegetable products from Serbia have been delivered to Russia's Kaliningrad region, according to the regional office of Rosselkhoznadzor.
The shipments included apricots, peaches, nectarines, watermelons, pears, apples, cherries, sweet cherries, blueberries, cabbage, potatoes, onions, carrots, and various leafy greens.
However, inspections revealed six types of quarantine pests in 44 separate cases. As a result, authorities carried out quarantine treatment on 429 tons of produce and destroyed 75 tons that were contaminated, according to Rosselkhoznadzor.
