The Port of Fortaleza has started its 2025 fresh fruit export season, which will run until December. The operation, managed by Companhia Docas do Ceará (CDC), is expected to handle higher volumes of melons, mangos, grapes, and watermelons destined for European markets.
The season began with the docking of the French-flagged vessel Kourou at berth 106. The ship, measuring 190 meters in length and 31 meters in width, is operated by CMA CGM and is scheduled to depart on Thursday (7) for the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, a traditional entry point for Brazilian fruit into Europe.
According to CMA Terminals, which operates the Port of Fortaleza Container Terminal, 410 containers of fresh fruit have already been shipped. In addition, 915 empty containers have arrived and will be gradually loaded over the next two weeks, supporting the forecast for increased shipments during this export period.
With harvesting expected to intensify in September, historically the month of highest supply, the port's schedule will expand to handle increased demand. CMA confirmed that from next month, the number of weekly vessels will increase from one to two, a frequency that will continue until the end of the harvest in December.
The Port of Fortaleza remains an important link between fruit producers in Brazil's Northeast and international markets, with expanded logistics set to support higher export volumes during the 2025 season.
