In 2024, Den Berk Délice built its first greenhouse in Agadir, covering 12.8 hectares. This year, they are adding another 17 hectares, bringing their Moroccan acreage to a total of 30 hectares. The Belgian greenhouse grower is now reaping the rewards of its international expansion, with a new harvest of snack tomatoes and seedless snack peppers. The peppers are a first for Morocco, following last year's announcement of trial projects with snack vegetables.

What began in 2024 with the first cultivation in Morocco's Souss-Massa region has now grown into a firmly rooted organization ready to supply the European market year-round, explains General Manager Wouter Vankeirsbilck. "Our ambition doesn't stop at national borders. With Den Berk Délice Maroc, we're taking an important step forward in our mission to deliver the tastiest specialty tomatoes all year long. We combine the natural power of the Moroccan sun with our Belgian expertise, always with the same focus: Flavor, quality, and partnership."

Modern midtech
Just like in Belgium, people are at the heart of the company's operations in Morocco. Investments have been made in modern social facilities, comfortable amenities, and fair wages. "This way, we build a positive, motivating work environment together."
The growing system reflects the same philosophy. Den Berk Délice has chosen a mid-tech concept with modern facilities such as a closed water system and advanced ventilation. "By making the most of natural light and heat, we keep our ecological footprint as small as possible. Efficient irrigation systems, greenhouses that can be ventilated through roof windows, and double quality control—both in Morocco and Belgium—ensure that every tomato reaching customers is both reliable and full of flavor."
Expansion plans underway
For Den Berk Délice, this is only the beginning. "The combination of Belgian precision and Moroccan strength enables us to continue growing in the coming years and to strengthen our partnerships." Further expansion of acreage in Morocco is already planned, allowing the company to respond even better to rising demand. "We always strive for better—together with our customers, our employees, and our consumers. Great taste knows no borders."

Year-round supply
The move to Morocco was made with a year-round supply in mind. In the past, Den Berk Délice already worked with Moroccan growers, but to gain more control over the growing process, the company began cultivating in Agadir itself last year. This shift allows them to better predict production start times and expected volumes from the moment of planting. "That's a major advantage for retailers seeking a reliable and stable product supply," the company emphasized when announcing its first Moroccan crop.
