Morocco has set a new seasonal record for tomato exports, reaching 745,000 tons during the 2024/25 season (July–June), according to data from the Office des Changes via Global Trade Tracker reported by EastFruit. Export revenues totaled nearly US$1.2 billion, an 8.3% increase from the previous season and surpassing the 2022/23 record by almost 4%.

Tomatoes remain the country's leading fresh produce export, accounting for over 30% of the sector's foreign currency earnings. Morocco is currently the world's third-largest tomato exporter, following Mexico and the Netherlands. Export volumes are distributed year-round, with peak shipments between November and March. In November 2024, Morocco recorded its highest monthly shipment to date at 105,000 tons.
Despite challenges such as drought and labor shortages, tomato exports have continued to expand. France remains the main importer, purchasing nearly half of the total shipments in 2024/25. The United Kingdom ranked second with more than 15% of total volumes, followed by the Netherlands and Spain, both of which source Moroccan tomatoes to extend their own export windows.
Other European markets showed growth, with exports to Germany and Portugal rising, while West African destinations, including Mauritania and Senegal, are steadily increasing their share. Secondary markets contributed substantially to overall growth, adding 15,000 tons compared with the previous season. This represented 40% more than last year and 62% more than in the 2022/23 season.

Among these newer markets, Belgium's imports have almost quadrupled over the past two seasons. Scandinavian countries, including Denmark and Norway, have registered record imports for three consecutive years. Sweden, Ireland, and Finland, absent from Morocco's export trade three years ago, are now emerging markets showing growth.
In addition to tomatoes, Morocco also set a seasonal record for cucumber exports in 2024/25, reinforcing its role as a major global supplier of greenhouse produce.
