The French interprofessional association for fresh fruit and vegetables (INTERFEL) is taking part in Fruit Attraction 2025 in Madrid, representing around 90% of the French sector and coordinating a delegation of more than 50 companies.
Export developments
Europe remains the main destination for French fruit and vegetables, with more than 2 million tonnes exported at a value of nearly €3.1 billion in the 2024/2025 season. At the same time, exports to Asia have grown, recording increases of 34.9% in volume and 21.9% in value. Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan have been the leading markets. Oceania and Africa also continue to grow in importance, while the recent opening of the Mexican market to French apples marks another new outlet for exporters.
Domestic consumption trends
While export markets are expanding, the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables among younger Europeans remains a challenge. INTERFEL has stated that younger generations are still underconsuming these products, and the sector continues to look for communication strategies adapted to this demographic.
Participation in Madrid
INTERFEL's presence at the fair includes activities designed to highlight French produce and engage with trade professionals. The association has emphasised the importance of ensuring access to healthy food, managing natural resources, and supporting the transition to more sustainable farming.
The French delegation can be found in Hall 6 at IFEMA during Fruit Attraction.
