Adrian Scripps, one of England's largest apple growers and packers and a main supplier to the supermarket chain Tesco, has completely automated its packing line using UniPAKer technology from the Dutch company Brillopak. According to both companies, this has tripled the productivity per employee.

Mechanical crate fillers were a bottleneck
The challenge at Adrian Scripps was that the old mechanical crate fillers could no longer keep up with the speed of the flowpackers. Even at maximum output, they managed only 15 cycles per minute, which created a serious bottleneck. Many suppliers hesitated to introduce robots for delicate fruit such as apples, worried about bruising. Brillopak, however, was willing to take on the challenge.
75 packages per minute
With the installation of four UniPAKers, along with palletisers and crate destackers, Adrian Scripps can now process up to 75 packs per minute, all without compromising quality. As a result, productivity jumped from 2.5–5 packs per person per minute to an impressive 15.

Continuous production
A clever addition was the Crate Destacker, which automatically and reliably separates crates. This eliminates the need for manual handling and keeps production running smoothly without interruptions. James Simpson, Managing Director of Adrian Scripps, describes Brillopak as "a reliable and innovative partner that has delivered everything we asked for, and more."
