By late August 2025, the average retail price of apples in Russia exceeded 140 RUB/kg (€1.42), up 14% year-on-year, Kommersant reports.
According to Irina Koziy, CEO of FruitNews, the increase is driven not only by weather conditions but also by sharply higher production costs. This has also pushed up prices for apple concentrates used in juices, baby food, and cider.
Domestic apples currently dominate the market, making up around 90% during harvest season and 60–70% annually. However, imported fruit remains cheaper.
Major imports will begin in December, with supplies coming from Moldova, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iran, while spring shipments arrive from Argentina, Chile, and South Africa.
Demand for organic apples is also growing, but domestic supply remains limited, forcing producers of organic baby food to rely heavily on imports.
