CLIA Pouso Alegre, an off-dock Customs bonded facility operated by the ICTSI Group, has moved to a larger and more modern site in Minas Gerais.
The relocation establishes a logistics corridor that links directly with Rio Brasil Terminal at the Port of Rio de Janeiro, providing a multimodal connection along the Rio-Minas corridor. This aims to streamline supply chains between seaports and the hinterland.
Minas Gerais is a major economic region hosting industries such as agribusiness, meat exports, automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods. The new location improves access to seaports in Rio de Janeiro and Santos, as well as airports in Guarulhos and Viracopos.
Rafael Cardoso, chief commercial officer of CLIA Pouso Alegre and Rio Brasil Terminal, said they have simplified shipping line access to customers through road and rail links from the Port of Rio de Janeiro.
The facility now covers 49,800 square meters, with a 12,600-square-meter warehouse and bonded area that can handle up to 620 TEUs. It also includes a 1,800-TEU depot and a 360-square-meter warehouse designated for export operations, features not available at the former site.
According to the company, the closer integration of CLIA Pouso Alegre with Rio Brasil Terminal positions the Port of Rio de Janeiro as an alternative entry and exit point for cargo moving through Minas Gerais. This could provide shipping lines with faster transit times, more predictable scheduling, and the option to return empty containers at the CLIA depot.
The enhanced corridor offers shipping lines calling at Rio de Janeiro the possibility to handle cargo volumes traditionally routed through Santos and Catarina.
CLIA Pouso Alegre began operations at its new site at Rodovia BR 381, Km 861, Limeira, Pouso Alegre, on September 1, 2025.
