Ukrainian cucumber and tomato exports drop to minimum levels compared to pre-war volumes

Exports of Ukrainian cucumbers and tomatoes have fallen to their lowest levels since before the war, according to market analysts. The main destinations for cucumbers remain Estonia, Poland, and Moldova, with shipments concentrated between May and July, when Ukraine is able to supply seasonal volumes.

Tomato exports follow a similar pattern, with most deliveries going to Moldova between July and October. However, export volumes are now at a fraction of pre-war levels. The decline is primarily linked to reduced planted areas and the limited capacity of greenhouse producers.

Currently, more than 90% of tomatoes in Ukraine are grown by small households, while greenhouse complexes operate at reduced capacity. Only one major facility in the country continues year-round production, underlining the structural challenges facing the sector.
