South Korean company, Sunforest, manufactures portable NIR Spectrometers that non-destructively measure fruit's internal quality, such as brix, dry matter, moisture, and color.
"This device gives growers accurate information about the fruit while it is still on the tree," explains Jay Hwang, General Manager at Sunforest.

One of the company's hand-held NIR Spectrometers was specially developed for Shine-muscat grapes, which are a premium product in Korea. The timing of the harvest for the grapes is paramount, as this can affect the sweetness, and so the marketability and quality of the grapes.
"The demand for non-destructive fruit quality meters is growing within the fruit industry as it can help to determine optimal harvest timing, assess fruit maturity, and ensure quality throughout the supply chain."

Sunforest H-100C
"The Sunforest H-100C has been proven to be a reliable instrument for determining and tracking dry matter on batches of Hass avocado. The Sunforest H-100C can be used by growers and industry technical reps to independently and non-destructively monitor Hass avocado dry matter on-orchards throughout the season. It could also allow growers and packhouses to determine when to submit samples for maturity clearance testing."
Sunforest has been supplying its Sunforest H-100C Avocado DM Meter to markets all around the world, mainly to Mexico, the U.S., and Kenya, which are major avocado-producing countries.
"In the Mexican market in particular, a groundbreaking change is taking place where APEAM (Mexican Avocado Producers Association) is replacing the existing microwave oven-based DM measurement method with a Sunforest H-100C device."
Sunforest has been attending Asia Fruit Logistica every year since 2015, and will be there again in 2025 in Hall 3, booth 3Z36
