Drewry's Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) fell by 2% in the second half of August, reaching US$582 per 40ft container. The IACI, which is a weighted average of spot rates across 18 major trade routes within Asia, is now 35% lower than it was in August 2024.
Drewry's Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) reports actual spot container freight rates for major intra-Asia trade lanes. The index, updated fortnightly, consists of 18 route-specific indices covering individual shipping routes, as well as a composite index. All values are reported in US dollars per 40ft container.

Market freight rates are collected on the following routes: Busan to Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai, Jakarta to Shanghai, Jawaharlal Nehru Port to Shanghai, Kaohsiung to Shanghai, and Laem Chabang to Shanghai. Routes in the opposite direction are also included, such as Shanghai to Busan, Shanghai to Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai to Jakarta, Shanghai to Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Shanghai to Jebel Ali, Shanghai to Kaohsiung, Shanghai to Laem Chabang, Shanghai to Manila, Shanghai to Singapore, Shanghai to Tanjung Pelepas, and Shanghai to Yokohama, as well as Yokohama to Shanghai.
