The Hamburg Fire Brigade deployed a large contingent and worked for several days to bring the fire under control. Roads in the area were closed due to the explosions. Employees of AXXUM Packaging Hamburg supported emergency services by providing equipment, including the use of a reach stacker to move containers, which assisted with firefighting and securing operations.
The explosions left visible damage in the area. The site of AXXUM Packaging Hamburg was affected, with gas cylinder impacts creating craters in the ground and damaging buildings and storage areas.

Clean-up work at the AXXUM premises is underway. Initial assessments suggest that deliveries and collections will resume from the beginning of next week. Until then, access to the affected site remains restricted. Customers with urgent requirements can make use of alternative AXXUM locations.
The company noted that the incident highlights the importance of established procedures and emergency planning in port and logistics operations to minimise the duration of operational disruptions.
