Verbruggen to acquire Thomech in January 2026

Verbruggen Palletizing Solutions has announced the acquisition of Thomech B.V. (Stiens), effective January 1, 2026. Thomech's operations and product portfolio will be fully integrated into Verbruggen's organization. Production, research and development, service, and sales will be consolidated at the company's global headquarters in Emmeloord, the Netherlands.

The acquisition expands Verbruggen's scope in fresh produce automation, with a focus on potatoes, onions, and carrots. The company aims to strengthen its capacity to deliver complete automation systems. Thomech's range of products, including weighing, bagging, sewing, and palletizing equipment, will become part of Verbruggen's portfolio.

Going forward, Thomech products will be marketed under the Verbruggen End of Line Solutions brand, although in some markets the Thomech name may continue to be used alongside Verbruggen for continuity. The ZOH 10-50 Bag Hanger, a fully automated bag-hanging system, will now be included in the Verbruggen product line. The NS10-50 Sewing Line, a semi-automated bag-closing system, will also be incorporated. In addition, the AWU 10-50 Weigher, a fully automated weighing solution, will become part of the offering.

To ensure continuity, Verbruggen will integrate the Thomech team into its operations. Thomas Bouma, founder and current owner of Thomech, will remain involved during the transition period to support the handover.

According to Verbruggen Palletizing Solutions, the acquisition is part of a broader growth strategy aimed at expanding automation capabilities in the fresh produce sector. Bouma said the move would ensure continuity for Thomech's customers and provide new opportunities for the team.
