SS8: A machine engineered to cut fruit and vegetables

Virginia Cascella, the company's export manager, pays close attention to changes in new markets and their needs. She gave us a detailed description of the machine: "It is robust, compact (1 m x 1 m), and highly productive. With a production rate of 40 fruits per minute, it is one of the best-selling machines in the world, with 215 units sold. It is a must-have for processing and was launched 18 years ago. Cascella adds, "The SS8 semi-automatic cutter can cut apples, citrus fruits, kiwis, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, and onions into wedges, slices, cubes, rounds, and sticks. It can also be used for pineapples, melons, and mangoes."

Made of stainless steel, the machine performs clean, high-quality cuts in various shapes and sizes thanks to its interchangeable cutting dies and pressing components. The operator only needs to load the fruit; the automatic mechanism then pushes it through the dies for cutting and collection on the designated output conveyor, where it is ready for subsequent packaging. All parts that come into contact with the fruit are certified for use in the food industry, and all components, especially the blades, are easily replaceable. This requires only one maintenance check per year.

"The advantages are considerable," says the expert. "For example, it's a plug-and-play machine that is extremely easy to use. All you have to do is plug it in, and it's ready to operate. It can also be equipped with self-locking swivel wheels upon request, which makes it easy to move around the processing area as needed. Additionally, the continuous rotation of the disc helps the operator load it and increases productivity by ensuring consistent cutting and uniform thickness."
