Lekkewaan, a South African company specialising in battery-powered agricultural and leisure vehicles, has expanded its product line and regional presence since first entering the market six years ago. The company, which designs vehicles for durability, efficiency, and affordability, reports that it has sold more than 3,000 units across the country.

Lekkewaan began with a single product, the Lekke TailG 1.3, aiming to provide reliable battery-powered transport suited to South African farming conditions. It now offers eight specialised models for growers, nurseries, and rural communities. Supporting this growth is a nationwide footprint that includes four warehouses in Wellington, Tzaneen, Centurion, and Addo, along with a network of more than 80 agents providing stock, spare parts, and aftersales support.

"Lekkewaan was built on the principle of practical innovation," said Pierneef Smit, General Manager. "We are proud of how far we've come in just six years – from one product to a full range, from a single idea to a trusted brand with thousands of satisfied customers. I even travelled to China to design the Lekkewaan Noddy myself – which is why you won't find a similar model anywhere else."

The company has also expanded its reach outside South Africa. Lekkewaan has agents in Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, and is planning further appointments in these markets. In Australia, a farmer in Mildura purchased three Lekkewaan Noddy vehicles after comparing their price and functionality with local alternatives. According to the company, the model has since gained popularity in the Australian agricultural market.

Looking ahead, Lekkewaan plans to further broaden its product portfolio and strengthen its agent network while continuing to supply battery-powered transport solutions to the agricultural sector in South Africa and abroad.
