Morocco was its main supplier

Spain imported a record volume of cucumbers

During the 2024/2025 season, Spain imported a record 24.57 million kilos of cucumbers, according to data from Estacom (Icex-Tax Agency) analyzed by Hortoinfo. The imports cost €27.68 million, with an average price of €1.13/kg.

Morocco accounted for 75.5% of the total, with shipments of 18.55 million kilograms valued at €20.11 million and an average price of €1.08/kg. Over the past decade, Spanish cucumber imports from Morocco have increased by 250%.

The Price and Market Observatory of the Andalusian Regional Government reports that the average cost of cucumbers at origin—which includes French, short, and Almeria varieties—is €0.82/kg, a figure significantly lower than the price paid for imported cucumbers.

Portugal was the second-largest supplier with 2.3 million kilos (9.4% of the total), valued at €2.39 million, with an average price of €1.04/kg. Germany ranked third with 1.68 million kilos (6.8%), worth €2.66 million, and a unit price of €1.58/kg.

The Netherlands ranked fourth, exporting 905,491 kilograms to Spain, valued at €1.09 million, with a price of €1.21/kg. Following that was France, with 395,091 kilograms worth €364,109, at a price of €0.92/kg.

Overall, both the volume and value of Spanish cucumber imports reached record highs in the recently completed season, reaffirming Morocco's position as Spain's primary supplier of cucumbers.
