A dozen Granada cooperatives affiliated with the Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Granada-FAECA have started the almond harvesting season with optimistic market prospects. Overall, the forecast for the almond harvest in Granada province is 9,828 tons. This is 10.65% less than the 11,000 tons harvested in 2024, mainly due to weather events that affected the region.
Hail and snow in the north, along with persistent rains, have reduced production potential and caused fungus growth, resulting in fruit drop in certain areas. Despite this, the increase in productive land and the commencement of new plantations have helped compensate for the losses.

Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Granada emphasized the importance of consuming Spanish products and verifying the origin of almonds and products containing them to avoid imported almonds, mostly from California, which are of lower quality.
Granada continues to strengthen its position as Spain's leading almond-producing province and the one with the largest cultivated area, exceeding 70,000 hectares. The highest-yielding regions are primarily in the northern districts, as well as around Alhama, Órgiva, and Dúrcal. This province also experienced the greatest growth in dry farming areas, increasing by 3,888 hectares.
Ninety per cent of Granada's almond exports are in kernel form, representing 85% of the overall export volume. The main markets for these exports are Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands, where Granada almonds are highly valued for their quality and flavor.
