Demand for Australian almonds increased during 2024/25, supported by trade agreements with China and India that have generated greater interest from both markets.
The Almond Board of Australia's (ABA) 2024/2025 Almond Insights handbook was released with updated data from the annual planting survey and industry marketing information.

New plantings were limited to several projects, while tree removals occurred in other regions after high rainfall events in late 2022 and early 2023. According to the report, total industry plantings reached 66,096 hectares in 2024/25, a 4% increase compared to the adjusted figure for the previous year.
Self-fertile varieties continued to expand, while the nonpareil variety decreased to 43% of total plantings. Favourable pollination and growing conditions contributed to a production volume of 163,148 tonnes kernel weight equivalent (KWE) in 2024/25, a record crop and a clear recovery from the weather-affected lower yields of the prior season.
