The new season of dried apricots has started in the Batken region of southern Kyrgyzstan, a major apricot-growing area located near the borders with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Dried apricot production and trade remain one of the key sources of income for local farmers, with demand coming both from the domestic market and neighboring countries.
The main trading hub is located in Kara-Bak, where suppliers offer large volumes of product.
This season, prices are considered relatively low compared to previous years. Market participants note that most apricots are sold in bulk, either in sacks or directly from trucks, and are primarily used as raw material for further processing.
Batken varieties are valued for their quality and health benefits, largely determined by traditional drying methods.
