Uzbekistan gains access to Egyptian market for apricots, plums, nectarines, almonds, and walnuts

Uzbekistan's fruit and nut growers have received the green light to export apricots, plums, nectarines, almonds, and in-shell walnuts to Egypt, following successful negotiations between the Plant Quarantine and Protection Agency and Egyptian authorities. The agreement grants the necessary phytosanitary approvals, opening new opportunities for expanding exports and strengthening trade ties between the two countries.

All shipments will undergo phytosanitary inspections to ensure they are free from quarantine pests and comply with international ISPM standards.

With a population of over 110 million and consistent demand for fresh produce, Egypt is an attractive destination for exporters. Annual imports of fresh fruit amount to hundreds of thousands of tonnes, presenting strong growth potential for Uzbek producers.

Uzbekistan now holds phytosanitary permits to supply 25 types of agricultural products to Egypt.
