On the domestic table potato market, harvesting continued apace last week in mostly fine late summer weather. The available supply is correspondingly large, and in some places, crates are running low. Yields for storage varieties vary greatly from region to region. In the dry areas of eastern Austria, growers are struggling with increasing wireworm infestation. On the demand side, sales are satisfactory. The end of the vacation season and ongoing promotions in food retail are providing additional impulses. Significant quantities can also continue to be sold for export. Prices remained largely at the previous week's level. In Lower Austria and Burgenland, up to EUR 20/100 kg was recently paid for medium-sized produce, with deductions for interim storage and higher logistics costs. In Upper Austria, the price level also remained stable at EUR 20/100 kg.

Encouraging sales situation
With improved weather conditions, the domestic onion harvest has progressed rapidly in recent days. The available supply volumes are increasing accordingly. However, there is no sales pressure given the good sales situation. Domestic demand in food retail is satisfactory for the season. Significant quantities are also being marketed for export to southern and southeastern Europe. There has therefore been no change in producer prices compared to the previous week. At the beginning of the week, onions, cleaned and sorted in crates, were selling for between EUR 15 and EUR 18/100 kg, depending on quality.
No marketing pressure for carrots
The carrot market in northern Austria is fairly balanced. Sales on the domestic market are picking up again somewhat now that the holiday season is over. Exports are not yet playing a role. Harvest volumes are currently in line with current demand. There is still no marketing pressure, and prices are holding steady at the previous week's level. At the beginning of the week, carrots in 5 kg bags, ex-ramp, were mostly selling for between EUR 45 and EUR 50/100 kg, depending on quality.
