A growing sector
Global demand for avocado oil is rising at double-digit rates each year, making it one of the most promising products for added value within the avocado industry. In light of this rapid growth and the need to standardize quality and processes, the Avocado Oil Manufacturers Association (AOMA), the first international organization dedicated solely to avocado oil, was established.

Founders and headquarters
The initiative is being promoted by Avolution Lab, United Producers of Mexico (UPM), and Crofts—three organizations with extensive experience in avocado innovation, production, and marketing. The association is based in Seville, Spain, a city renowned worldwide for its pioneering role in olive oil extraction research and development.
Thanks to collaboration with Avolution Lab's Avo Oleo project, which has been exploring ways to apply olive oil industry advances to the avocado sector since 2021, AOMA will provide its members with knowledge, technology, and standards to enhance the professionalism of the industry.
A clear mission
© AOMAAOMA's primary goal is to give voice and global representation to a sector that has been fragmented until now, ensuring dialogue with institutions, governments, legislators, and international organizations. Its core objectives are:
- Representing and strengthening avocado oil producers.
- Establishing global quality and sustainability standards.
- Facilitating access to advanced extraction technology.
- Promoting better prices for producers through increased efficiency and quality.
The founders
Enrique Garcia, founder of Avolution Lab, recalls: "When I started the Avo Oleo project, I said that in the future there would be avocado plantations solely for oil production. Many people thought I was crazy. Today, that vision is closer to becoming a reality. Time puts everything in its place."

Lia Bijnsdorp, co-founder of the association, stressed: "For several years now, I have witnessed unprecedented growth in our avocado industry. In my publications, I have highlighted the need to turn this boom into value-added opportunities. Avocado oil is the main focus: it enables us to use fruit that was previously wasted, opens up international markets, and positions it not only as a fresh fruit but also as a strategic ingredient for food and health on a global scale. With AOMA, we aim to give a unified voice to the sector and ensure it develops in a professional, sustainable, and competitive manner."
Miraj Shah, the co-founder, states that "the potential for avocado oil is immense, especially in emerging markets where consumers seek natural, healthy, and traceable products. AOMA will serve as a bridge to connect producers, processors, and investors in a strong, long-term value chain."
Official presentation at Fruit Attraction 2025
The association will be officially launched at Fruit Attraction 2025 in Madrid, where the founders will offer an open space for dialogue with interested producers, processors, and investors. The event will take place on October 2nd in Hall 4 at 11:30.
One of AOMA's primary objectives will be to listen to the sector's challenges and develop a comprehensive agenda focused on concrete solutions for the most pressing issues.
