The market constantly demands new products, and sometimes they are surprising, such as the emergence of aloe vera juice years ago. Consumption has been increasing in Europe, and the trend seems to be growing at the expense of the Mexican powder.
"We have observed a significant increase in aloe vera juice sales; for example, in the UK and Eastern European countries, it is gaining a lot of interest. Our main product has always been the organic raw material, the gel, which is used to produce the juice and other products. It was mainly demanded by Germany, France, and Belgium, but recently, there has been an upward trend in juice sales," stated Marisa García, Alvefresh's sales manager.

Our customers used to buy gel from us, but now they are directly requesting juice as a finished product under our brand or white label. Interest in flavored aloe vera juice is also increasing. It could become another household juice in a few years because diversifying flavors helps us reach a broader audience," García stated.
"Europe used to buy a lot of dehydrated and powdered aloe vera from Mexico. They would later mix it with water to form a gel, but this process is unrelated to our product. According to an analysis we conducted, this powdered product loses some of the aloe vera's properties."
"We can't compete on price with dehydrated aloe vera from Mexico, but the Mexican product can't compete with the quality of our fresh aloe vera gel from Almeria. Every month, we see growing interest in organic aloe vera juice made from gel rather than powder," García said.

"Almeria is the top region for growing aloe vera in Spain for many reasons. While other national production centers have strong reputations, Almeria stands out due to its high levels of acemannan, the compound that provides aloe vera with its health benefits, such as its ability to strengthen the immune system. Aloe vera also needs the right amount of watering; too much water can dilute its beneficial properties. The leaves will become thicker, but their health benefits will decrease."

Recently, the General Court of Justice of the European Union lifted the ban on aloe vera preparations containing hydroxyanthracene derivatives, thereby removing doubts about their safety for human consumption. "Since then, the habit of drinking aloe vera juice has increased in Spain and across Europe. I drink it every morning, and I have noticed a significant improvement in my health," the sales manager stated.
Alvefresh is a company based in Almeria that specializes in manufacturing organic aloe vera gel for use in juices, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.
