Brazillian apple juice exports to U.S. disrupted by tariffs

Trump's tariffs on Brazilian products have begun to impact exporters, with apple juice producer Fischer Sucos reporting difficulties at the Port of Santos, São Paulo. The company, based in Videira in Santa Catarina, has 2,300 tons of product waiting at the port.

Manager Claudinei Schweitzer told NDTV Record that 80% of the company's production is usually exported to the United States because of logistics. "The tariff situation is real and caught us off guard. We had already sent a large quantity of juice to the U.S., and indeed, part of our stock is currently stuck at the Port of Santos, awaiting a solution," Schweitzer said.

Despite the disruption, production has not been halted. Schweitzer explained that part of the stock is being redirected. "Since we are in the off-season, we have been able to sell to the Brazilian market," he noted.

The company is concerned about the next harvest, which will result in higher production volumes. To mitigate risk, Fischer Sucos is looking at alternative destinations. "Our product is certified for all markets, no problem. We can reach various destinations," Schweitzer said.

The company hopes the issue will be resolved before the next harvest to avoid further losses.
