Torrente, a family business now in its third generation, has completed the running-in phases of its new production site featuring state-of-the-art technology. The declared objective is the gradual expansion of its production capacity starting from the current campaign, with the intention of stabilising production within three years.
The company's new, recently inaugurated factory covers 36,000 square metres, of which 16,000 square metres are covered. This facility is designed to boost production capacity, aiming to exceed one hundred thousand tonnes of freshly-processed tomatoes within three years. Filippo Torrente pointed out that the inauguration represents "a very important milestone for the company", in particular for the technological innovation resulting from the latest generation of in-line plants.
The processing tomato campaign is progressing well, without any significant weather interference. Filippo Torrente said that the company is processing "tomatoes of a higher quality than those harvested during the last campaign". Quotations are currently up with respect to the official agreements. In order to meet the needs of historical producers, Torrente has adjusted the purchase prices. Tomatoes are currently being collected at higher quotations than those in the framework agreement, which set EUR 147.50/tonne for round tomatoes and EUR 155/tonne for oblong tomatoes. The company also reported that it purchased tomatoes at prices between EUR 180 and 200/tonne in order to meet production schedules.

The new plant has been designed by integrating systems to reduce ecological impact. Technologies implemented include water recovery systems, low-consumption engines, low-emission boilers with heat recovery, and a photovoltaic system for renewable energy production. These solutions aim to optimise the use of resources, contain emissions, and reduce energy consumption, combining production efficiency and environmental sustainability.
