The Dutch pepper season is coming to an end. "Our growers delivered top quality under ideal conditions, with production at exceptional levels. At the same time, this also brought challenges: More kilos do not automatically mean more return. The market could not keep up with supply, and for most of the season, there was more product available than demand," reflects Marco Bergman of Harvest House.

"The export opportunity for Dutch peppers to the U.S., which provided relief last year, largely disappeared this season. That made the commercial situation more challenging, but in the end, all peppers still reached the consumer's plate," says the pepper seller.

"In the coming weeks, we expect additional pressure due to the influx of Spanish peppers. No surprise, but an extra puzzle in our sales strategy. We continue to steer towards a healthy balance between supply and demand. Together with our growers, we will keep working on top-quality products until the end of the season!"
