Italy's Op Altamura ready for Madrid fair

"We want to strengthen the positioning of our baby leaf products in global markets"

It was a positive summer for the Altamura Producers' Organization, which is based in Pontecagnano Faiano, Salerno, in the Italian Campania region. The organization concluded the 2025 campaign with promising results in horticulture and fruit production. OP Vice President Fabio Altamura assessed the situation and confirmed that baby leaf volumes remained at last year's levels, with a slight increase in domestic markets.

"The summer season went well," Altamura explains. "In addition to baby greens, we had good results with our fruit, especially the yellow melons and Rocket Melon watermelons. The last campaign was conducted through special programs with long-time customers. Therefore, the budget is stable, with signs of growth confirming the effective collaboration with our members."

Baby leaf autumn season: Strategies to consolidate and grow
With the new autumn campaign just around the corner, the focus will shift again to Op Altamura's core business of baby leaf. The goal is to strengthen the company's presence in international markets, where Op Altamura already operates in over 30 countries.

"We want to consolidate the results achieved in recent years and continue to grow in terms of commercial performance and product quality," Altamura emphasizes. The emphasis on production and upholding stringent quality standards remains paramount. These standards are essential to us. They help us maintain the trust of our customers and manage international markets effectively.

Altamura is optimistic about the future, in part because new producers have recently joined the organization and established new production facilities. "This is a significant indication of the evolution and self-assurance of our organizational model."

Sustainability remains a priority. "For years, we have invested in photovoltaics, reduced our chemical use, and optimized our water resources. These choices improve environmental sustainability and create added value in the eyes of the market."

From a commercial perspective, the producers' organization maintains a close collaborative relationship with the large-scale organized distribution sector and foreign markets. "Our goal," says the vice president, "is to strengthen existing relationships and open up new opportunities. To achieve this, we are adapting our organizational structure. We are improving internal processes and adopting technological tools that enable us to guarantee product quality, traceability, and reliability."

Fruit Attraction 2025: International showcase
The next test bench will be Fruit Attraction 2025 in Madrid. Op Altamura will have its own stand in Hall 4, Stand 4E13. "We are approaching this event with great enthusiasm," says Altamura. "It is a leading international showcase and a fundamental opportunity to consolidate existing relationships and establish new ones. In particular, we want to highlight our IV gamma line of ready-to-eat salads, which is a strategic segment for the future of the retail, restaurant, and hospitality sectors."
