From January 1 to August 8, 2025, Russia imported 1.3 million tons of fruits and vegetables through the ports of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, 8% more than in the same period last year, according to the regional office of Rosselkhoznadzor.
The largest share came from bananas (837,000 tons), followed by pears (84,000 tons) and mandarins (59,000 tons).
Other imports included apples, lemons, grapes, pineapples, watermelons, and more.
Major suppliers of fruits and berries were South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Argentina, Pakistan, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Chile, Serbia, and Brazil.
Vegetable imports reached 25,500 tons, mainly potatoes, carrots, cabbage, garlic, and beets, supplied by Belarus, Egypt, Pakistan, and China.
All products underwent phytosanitary checks and were cleared for sale in Russia.
