Melones El Abuelo completes its integration into Citri&Co

Melones El Abuelo has completed its integration into Citri&Co, a group managed by the Miura fund and recently acquired by the Brazilian Agrícola Famosa. The company has unified its structure by merging its two previously operated entities.

Specifically, Productores y Comercializadores de Melón SL has acquired El Abuelo de los Melones SL, which was dissolved without liquidation. Consequently, the acquiring company now assumes all assets, rights, and obligations of the dissolved entity as a whole. This change, announced in August through the Official Gazette of the Mercantile Registry (BORME), became effective this Monday following the official publication of the acquisition.

After the operation, the new company has taken on the name of the dissolved one and will now operate as El Abuelo de los Melones SL. Founded in 2003, the company achieved a turnover of € 25 million in 2023. The dissolved company had a turnover of € 43 million, bringing its combined total to € 68 million.

The company's management will stay with its current team. Celedonio Buendía, CEO and one of the former owners, will continue to lead the board of directors. As previously announced, the company will continue to operate independently while strengthening synergies with Citri&Co on both operational and commercial levels.

Meanwhile, Miura is considering selling the Citri&Co group in its entirety. The Barcelona-based fund hired the U.S. investment bank Greenhill earlier this year to locate a buyer for the conglomerate, which has expanded significantly since its founding in 2017, following the acquisition of Martinavarro (Castellón) and Rio Tinto (Huelva).
