NA avocado prices down to $22 per carton

Seasonal shifts are driving changes in supply, pricing, and trade activity for several key commodities. Blueberries and green bell peppers now appear in reports as more growing regions expand, though limited price points prevent consistent charting. Below is an overview of current movements and prices.

Asparagus
Movement from Mexico crossings through Arizona, California, and Texas is expected to remain steady. Trading started slowly but has become more active, with higher prices. Eleven-pound cartons of bunched green large are mostly at 38.75. From Peru, imports through Southern California ports are decreasing. Trading for standard and large is moderate, while small and jumbo are lower.

Avocado
Mexico crossings through Texas are expected to remain steady. Trading is slow, with lower prices on conventional 32–40s and organic sizes. Hass 32s are 40.25–46.25, 36s 35.25–36.25, 40s 24.25–26.25, 48s 23.25–26.25, 60s 23.25–24.25, 70s 22.25–23.25, and 84s 22.25–23.25. Organic 48s are 36.25–38.25, 60s 35.25–36.25, and 70s 32.25–33.25. In California's South District, movement is decreasing seasonally with lower prices.

Blueberry
Imports from Peru through Miami, Philadelphia, and New York ports are increasing seasonally, though most shipments are from prior bookings. Quality is generally good. Mexico crossings are expected to rise seasonally, but current supplies are insufficient for market establishment. The first F.O.B. report is due the week of October 12. Chilean imports through Philadelphia are also expected to increase, with the first report expected the week of October 26.

Cucumber
Mexico crossings through Texas are decreasing slightly. Trading is slow with lower prices. Mediums are mostly 9.95–10.95, fair quality 6.95, and ordinary quality 5.95; large are mostly 11.95–12.95. From Otay Mesa, California, movement is decreasing, but trading is more active late. Mediums are 14.00–17.00, fair quality 12.00–14.00, ordinary 7.00–9.00, large 16.00–18.00, 24s at 8.00, and 36s at 8.50–9.50.

Green bell pepper
Movement from California's South District is decreasing with stable prices. Extra-large are 13.95–14.95, and large are 12.95–14.95. From Michigan, jumbo and extra-large are 8.00, and medium fair quality is 5.00–6.00. Nogales, Arizona, is expected to increase output, with the first F.O.B. report due October 26. The South Georgia movement is also rising, with reporting expected on October 12. Harvest in Coachella Valley, California, begins the week of October 5.

Tomato
Mexico crossings through Texas are decreasing slightly. Prices are lower, with Vine Ripes 2-layer 4x4–4x5s at 9.95–10.95 and 5x5–5x6s at 8.95–9.95. From California's Central District, movement remains steady but trading is slow, with extra-large at 8.35–9.35, large 9.35–10.35, and medium 8.35. From Otay Mesa, supplies are light but trading is active late, with Vine Ripes 2-layer 4x4–5x6s at 15.00–17.00.
