Sam Manujith- The Avolution:

"New orchards are starting to produce fruit that will negate alternate bearing"

Australian avocado grower and exporter The Avolution is currently producing avocados in the Tristate area: Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales, and working towards the Western Australian season.

"We've had a few issues with the rain and windy conditions, but overall, it has been good weather. It has had no influence on the sizing or quality of the fruit," said Sam Manujith, International Sales & Category Manager at The Avolution.

"On average, we will do around 2.6 to 3 million trays. Overall production in Australia is increasing, with a lot of new orchards starting to produce fruit that will negate the alternative bearing and give us a good, consistent supply all year round."

According to Sam, export markets are looking very promising, with Hong Kong, as always, being the leader of the pack. "Singapore and Malaysia continue to grow, as well as the whole of the Middle East (GCC), which now has access to Australian avocados. India is back up and running again. The Australian industry body is working hard to get new market access, like China, but we will try to work with the retailers directly to give the best eating experience for the customers."
