Mark Everett - Worldwide Fruit:

"We were able to sell more Peruvian avocado volumes this summer"

UK importer Worldwide Fruit is currently in the later stages of avocado supply from Peru and South Africa.

"The production in Peru has increased significantly year on year. According to Fresh Cargo Peru from weeks 1 to 36 2025, the Peruvian export volumes increased 29%," said Mark Everett, Business Unit Director – Avocados at Worldwide Fruit. There was a 26% increase in Peruvian avocado exports to Europe. With consumption on the increase in the UK, Worldwide Fruit was able to sell more Peruvian avocado volumes this summer."

South Africa is in the late window of supply now. "Some of the export requirements are being serviced by the Lamb Hass variety, which tends to mature later. This week, fruit is being harvested in the Kiepersol region. We have been pleased with the supply from South Africa this season, with consistent volumes supplied through the main part of the season. In general, scheduling and shipping have run smoothly."

Mark said that they can see an influence on the market of fruit from Kenya in the supply mix, but it is not an origin they are currently sourcing from.

Upcoming supply
"At Worldwide Fruit, we are now loading good volumes from Chile and are eagerly awaiting the first arrivals, which we are expecting in week 41. Morocco had a record-breaking 2024/2025 avocado season, and from our perspective, the fruit we procured performed very well. There are some concerns currently about the impact of the recent heat waves and how this will affect the forthcoming season, but we are planning to start loading from Morocco in the latter part of this year."

Logistics
In general, over the summer supply period, shipping has not caused too many challenges this season.

Interestingly, ripened avocados outperformed un-ripened, growing at +22% in value and +20.5% in volume.
