Tennessee nursery expands pawpaw supply across U.S.

TN Nursery, a family-owned business based in Tennessee, has announced that it now supplies pawpaw trees (Asimina triloba) nationwide, citing increasing interest in the native North American fruit.

Founded in 1959, the nursery has grown to focus on rare and native plant species. Pawpaw trees, sometimes referred to as "America's forgotten fruit," are gaining recognition for their ecological role and nutritional value. The fruit has a custard-like texture and a flavor often compared to banana, mango, and melon.

According to the nursery, pawpaw trees are well-suited for both home gardens and orchard plantings, and also serve as host plants for the zebra swallowtail butterfly, making them relevant in pollinator gardens and restoration projects.

Owner Tammy Sons said the business has invested years in cultivating pawpaw seedlings suited to a wide range of growing conditions. "Our team has dedicated years to cultivating healthy, vigorous plants that thrive in a wide range of growing conditions," she said.

The nursery ships directly from its Tennessee fields to customers across the United States and notes that its operations emphasize sustainable practices and the preservation of native plants.
