Asparagus
Movement from Mexico through Arizona, California, and Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading is slow, with prices lower and showing a wide range. Eleven-pound cartons of bunched green jumbo are mostly US$26.75–30.75, large are US$25.75–28.75, and standard are US$24.75–27.75. Prices represent very few spot market sales. From Peru, imports through Southern California are also steady, with trading fairly slow. Jumbo prices are slightly higher at US$46.75–47.50, extra-large US$44.75–46.75, large US$30.75–31.75, and standard US$27.75.
Avocado
Mexican movement through Texas is expected to remain the same. Trading was slow early but moderate later. Prices for conventional 84s and organic are unchanged, while others are lower. Hass 32s are US$48.25–50.25, 36s US$40.25–42.25, 40s US$26.25–28.25, 48s US$23.25–25.25, 60s US$22.25–24.25, 70s US$23.25–24.25, and 84s US$22.25–24.25. Organic 48s are US$44.25–46.25, 60s US$38.25–40.25, and 70s US$37.25–38.25. In California's South District, movement is decreasing seasonally. Prices of 70s are slightly higher, while 36–40s are lower.
Blueberry
Imports from Peru through Miami, Philadelphia, and New York are increasing, with most shipments tied to prior bookings. Supplies are too limited for a market to be established. Chilean imports through Philadelphia are also rising, with the first F.O.B. report expected the week of September 28. Mexican crossings are expected to increase seasonally, with the first report due October 5. Supplies from British Columbia, Oregon, Washington, and Michigan are decreasing seasonally, with current volumes too limited to establish a market.
Cucumber
Movement from Mexico through Otay Mesa is expected to decrease slightly. Trading started actively but slowed to moderate. Large sizes are slightly higher at US$18.00–20.00, while medium sizes are US$17.00–19.00, fair quality is US$14.00–16.00, and ordinary sizes are US$9.00–9.95. Through Texas, movement is expected to increase slightly, with medium at US$18.95–20.95, fair quality US$14.95–15.95, ordinary US$9.95–10.95, and large US$20.95–22.95. Through Nogales, supplies remain insufficient, with reports expected the week of September 28.
Tomato
Mexican movement through Texas is expected to increase slightly. Vine Ripes 4x4–4x5s are US$12.95–13.95 and 5x5–5x6s US$11.95–12.95. In California's Central District, movement is decreasing slightly, with Mature Greens extra-large and large at US$13.35 and medium at US$10.35. Through Otay Mesa, Vine Ripes 4x4–4x5s are US$13.00–14.00 and 5x5–5x6s US$11.00–12.00. Movement from Alabama, Eastern Tennessee, and Virginia is decreasing due to unfavorable weather.
