Wholesale Produce Supply, LLC, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has announced a recall of fresh-cut and processed cantaloupe due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was announced on September 29, 2025.
The affected products were sold to distributors in Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wisconsin, and may have been distributed to other states. The cantaloupe was marketed under the "Harvest Cuts" and "Fresh and Finest" brands at traditional grocery outlets. Products were packaged in plastic clamshell containers and included both cantaloupe-only packs and mixed fruit containers containing cantaloupe.
No illnesses have been reported to date. According to the company, Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly individuals, and people with weakened immune systems. In healthy individuals, short-term symptoms may occur, including high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The recall followed results from a routine sampling program that indicated the finished products could contain the bacteria. Wholesale Produce Supply has suspended production and distribution of the affected lots while investigating the source of the contamination.
Consumers who purchased "Harvest Cuts" or "Fresh and Finest" cantaloupes are advised to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
