Russia blocks import of 20.5 tons of Moldovan apples over documentation issues

The Russian service Rosselkhoznadzor has prohibited the import of a 20.5-ton shipment of fresh apples from Moldova due to irregularities in accompanying documents.

According to the agency, the shipment was inspected at the Burachki phytosanitary checkpoint on the Russian-Latvian border in the Pskov region. Inspectors found that the phytosanitary certificate presented by the exporter contained unverified amendments regarding the transport vehicle number, rendering the document invalid.

As a result, the certificate was not recognized as proof of compliance with Russia's quarantine and phytosanitary requirements, and the apples were denied entry into the country.
