Canada recalls pistachio kernels over salmonella risk

Pistachio kernels sold in British Columbia have been recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

The products, sold at KabulVan Supermarket, 6764 King George Blvd, Surrey, BC, were available in variable sizes from March 31, 2025, to August 13, 2025. The recall covers both packaged kernels under Item Code 12 and bulk pistachio kernels. No UPCs are associated with the products.

The recall was triggered during a CFIA food safety investigation linked to an ongoing outbreak of foodborne illness. The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating related human illness cases. The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing the recalled pistachios from the market. Consumers are advised not to consume, sell, serve, or distribute the affected products. This recall is classified as a Class 2 food recall warning. Further recalls may be announced as the CFIA's investigation progresses.
