Several Russian regions reported notable developments in fruit and vegetable imports between January and mid-August 2025, according to the Rosselkhoznadzor.
Kirov Region: inspectors cleared a shipment of 4.25 tons of fresh raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries imported from Kyrgyzstan in August. Since the start of 2025, the region has received 27.4 tons of Kyrgyz berries. Across Russia, Kyrgyz suppliers delivered over 55 tons of fruit and berries in 2025, seven times last year's volume. All samples tested are free of quarantine pests.
Dagestan: Nearly 1,200 consignments totaling over 20,000 tons of produce (incl. nectarines, peaches, apricots, peppers, lettuce) arrived from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and others in August. 11 cases (135 tons) were found with oriental fruit moth; the lots were disinfected and released after re-inspection.
Krasnoyarsk Region: In August, 330 tons of watermelons entered the region. Watermelon imports reached 4,800 tons in the first seven months of 2025, mostly from Asian countries. This is more than triple last year's volume (1,500 tons).
Omsk Region: Three shipments of nectarines from Uzbekistan, weighing over 8 tons, were found infested with oriental fruit moth. The fruit was fumigated and later cleared. Since January, 50 cases of pest-infested produce have been intercepted.
Kurgan Region: Two trucks carrying a total of 36 tons of Kazakh fruit (18 tons of apples and 18 tons of plums) were denied entry due to labeling and documentation violations. Both consignments were returned to Kazakhstan.
Astrakhan Region: Inspectors blocked the entry of 20 tons of melons (no packaging labels) and 18 tons of garlic (invalid phytosanitary certificate) from Kazakhstan.
Amur Region: More than 6,600 tons of Chinese cabbage varieties have been tested since January. While most consignments were clean, one batch of over 13 tons was found to be contaminated with western flower thrips.
