Organic grapes, kiwis and more in Anaheim

Awe Sum Organics is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and is busy preparing for its fall and winter seasons. It's currently setting up programs with customers for Peruvian organic green and red seedless grapes; and for Italian and Greek organic green and gold kiwi; followed in late winter and spring by its organic pears from the Rio Negro Valley in the Patagonia region of southern Argentina.

The company is one of the largest importers of organic table grapes from the Southern Hemisphere. "We help our customers fill their shelves with exciting and delicious organic fruit during the winter months including our high-quality, sweet, and crispy organic table grapes from Peru. All of our organic Peruvian grapes are the new and improved seedless varieties, and this season we are expecting exceptional quality," said David Posner, Awe Sum's president and founder.

The company loads its organic table grapes on both coasts during the winter months. "This season, we will have good volumes starting the first week of December, when the California grape season is finishing up. We expect to have supply through April, with our strongest supply from December through the beginning of February," said Jenna Galise, Awe Sum's sales manager.

The company's Peruvian green and red organic seedless table grapes have been in development since 2006 and its Peruvian organic grape program is the largest and most advanced in Peru. "Our grapes offer a crisp, sweet flavor that speaks volumes and creates strong repeat sales," said Posner.

A timely transition to organic green and gold kiwi from Italy and Greece is expected mid-November.

"With organic kiwi, we will have a timely transition to organic green and gold kiwi from Italy and Greece in mid-November, just as organic Zespri green and gold kiwi from New Zealand finishes up. Our organic Italian green kiwi should be available until June when New Zealand picks back up, allowing us to keep customers in good supply of high-quality organic green kiwi year-round. Gold kiwi from Italy and Greece should be available through late February. We expect good volumes and great quality this Italian/Greek season," said Galise.

The company looks forward to seeing attendees at the Global Produce Floral Show, including its customers, trading partners, service providers, and friends. It can be found at booth #757 where visitors can learn more about its fruit programs and its 40-year-long organic and sustainability mission.
