Peru expects 86 million boxes for the 2025-2026 grape season

The 2025-2026 table grape season is set to be one of the most important for Peruvian agro-exports. According to estimates by the Peruvian Association of Table Grape Producers (Provid), the country will export 86 million boxes, 4% more than in the previous season. With these figures, which reflect the strength of its agro-industrial sector, Peru is consolidating its position as a supplier of this fruit.

The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PromPerú) says that this growth brings both challenges and opportunities to continue strengthening the international positioning of Peruvian grapes. The organization says that logistical planning, market diversification, and sustainability throughout the value chain will be decisive in maintaining competitiveness in important destinations such as the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Luis Miguel, representative of Provid, warns that it is essential to have clear projections that allow the entire chain to anticipate demand. "If we continue to increase volumes, each stage needs to be carefully planned to avoid bottlenecks." He added that it is critically important to avoid production peaks if we want logistics and markets not to become saturated, ensuring price stability and more efficient fruit distribution in key weeks.

"This also applies to other strategic crops, such as blueberries, whose export volume is expected to grow by more than 20% next season," they say.

In this scenario, PromPerú is working together with associations and the private sector on initiatives such as the Global Grape Group (GGG), an alliance promoting joint campaigns with Chile and Mexico aimed at boosting table grape consumption in international markets. The strategy will be launched in the United States and will be extended to Europe, Asia, and Latin America, thus increasing the visibility of Peruvian fruit.

The group is also considering the incorporation of other suppliers, such as California, South Africa, and Brazil, with the aim of generating a greater global impact. PromPerú will complement these efforts with trade intelligence, trend studies, and international promotion initiatives to consolidate Peruvian grapes as an emblematic product of national agro-exports.

Next steps and the role of PromPerú
The next GGG meeting will take place at the IFPA congress in Anaheim, where budgets and joint strategies will be defined. At this meeting, PromPerú will play a key role in strengthening the presence of Peruvian grapes in the main markets and promoting the country as a strategic partner in the global supply of fresh fruit. It will also serve to provide updated figures on consumption trends, promotional investment, and the outlook for the next season.

This work is complemented by the strategic agenda developed by PromPeru in Asia, which has generated sales and potential business worth USD 208.7 million. Peru's presence at the China International Fruit Expo (Shanghai), Asia Fruit Logistica (Hong Kong), and the China Meet Up (Guangzhou) made it possible to show the competitiveness of the Peruvian supply and make new contacts in the main fruit trade centers in China.

"We also had a trade mission to Tokyo, where Peruvian fresh and processed food companies held meetings with potential Japanese buyers. These initiatives are helping promote market diversification, allowing Peru to consolidate as a reliable supplier of quality fruit and other foods," they say.
