Polish blueberries are set to enter the Vietnamese market for the first time after the Ministry of Trade granted official approval, the Việt Nam Trade Office in Poland confirmed.
The arrival of Polish blueberries is expected to increase competition in Vietnam's fruit sector and provide consumers with more choice. Blueberries are known for their temperate flavour and vitamin content, but limited supply and high transport costs have kept prices high. Retail prices currently range between US$40 and US$60 per kilogram, making the fruit less accessible to most consumers.
The Việt Nam Trade Office in Poland noted that bilateral trade relations have been strengthening in recent years, particularly following the implementation of the EU-Việt Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). The Vietnamese Embassy in Poland has been actively coordinating with agricultural ministries in both countries to facilitate market entry for Polish agricultural products with competitive advantages.
According to the office, this move not only broadens the selection of temperate fruits available to Vietnamese consumers but also increases competition among foreign suppliers. This may help balance prices and improve accessibility for households in Vietnam.
With the approval now in place, the Vietnamese market is expected to see its first Polish blueberry shipments in the near future.
