The Tasmanian Government will host an inward buyer visit for international fresh produce importers and retailers from 12 to 16 January 2026. The visit will coincide with the state's peak harvest season for both fruit and vegetables.
Fruit Growers Tasmania chief executive Peter Cornish said the timing of the visit allows overseas buyers to observe the Tasmanian fruit sector during its busiest period. "It really is the best time for importers and retailers to see the Tasmanian fruit industry in full swing," Cornish said.

Trade Tasmania is coordinating the program and is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from overseas buyers. The EOI process will close on 15 October 2025.
The four-day visit will cover production regions in southern, northern, and north-western Tasmania. According to organisers, the costs of accommodation, transport, and meals during the visit will be covered.
Fruit Growers Tasmania has indicated that visitors will be able to see the harvesting of cherries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Cornish noted that the event will allow buyers to assess the industry directly.
Last month, Fruit Growers Tasmania participated in Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong and Fine Foods Australia in Sydney. Cornish said there was strong interest in Tasmanian produce both domestically and internationally and added that the inward buyer visit would provide growers with an opportunity to present their operations to potential trade partners.
