Eurosemillas' contribution to the development of strawberry cultivation is well-known in Huelva, as well as in other of the world's main producing areas. The Red Innovation Hub is the platform that will be presented at Fruit Attraction (Hall 8, stand 8C01 in Ifema, from September 30 to October 2). With it, the group intends to go beyond varietal development and promote new alliances between operators in the two hemispheres, pursuing a more sustainable and competitive development, better adapted to the needs of the strawberry market.

"We want to make the most of the relationships we have built over these decades and think in an equally innovative, but more ambitious way," says Manuel Cano, Manager of Eurosemillas and head of this business area. "We are no longer just trying to boost the introduction of our varieties; we are also aiming to bring the know-how of those breeders closer to the growers, to work hand in hand with these centers and connect them with other large international operators, exporters, and retailers. The idea is to improve relations between the different links in the chain and achieve a strawberry crop that is better adapted to climate change, but also to market demand."
Eurosemillas has agreements and joint innovation projects with some of the main strawberry and raspberry breeders for the marketing of their varieties. This is the case of California Berry Cultivars, with which it has been collaborating at a global level for the last two years, allowing the launch of varieties such as the Belvedere, Adelanto, and Alturas, with another four soon to follow. It also maintains relations with Fresas Nuevos Materiales (FNM), with which it operates in South America, and which is responsible for varieties such as the Marisma and Rociera.
Future grows here
Eurosemillas will be present at Fruit Attraction with a stand in which the Red Innovation Hub will take center stage. But the company also wants to promote its innovative character in other crops with a clear slogan: "The future grows here", which complements and amplifies the one launched at the last edition, "The Home of Innovation". These two messages will also be displayed on the floor of the conference center's central corridor, making it easier to locate the company's stand.
Boosting innovation also means maintaining the commitment to tropical fruits and allowing Green Motion Avocados, the other international platform promoted by Eurosemillas itself and the University of California, Riverside (UCR), to continue contributing improvements. This platform was the first to promote the Luna avocado and is now working on forthcoming launches of new varieties and rootstocks. Of course, it also remains devoted to the Golden Hills and Lost Hills pistachio varieties (from the University of California Davis), which continue to play a very important role in this nut's significant expansion.
Tang Gold/Tango and Kino
Worthy of note are also the extra-late and extra-sweet mandarin Kino - whose plantations continue to expand in the main citrus-growing areas - and the Tang Gold mandarin - registered and popularly known in the U.S. as Tango. In fact, Eurosemillas is preparing new actions to improve its already privileged international position as a seedless product with a view to strengthening its leading worldwide position before the end of this decade.
