Westland and Japan continue to collaborate with AI and robotics for horticulture

At a horticultural symposium during the World Expo in Osaka, Mayor Bouke Arends of Westland and Governor Seiji Hamada of Kochi, Japan, signed a new agreement to strengthen their collaboration in the coming years. This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is a renewed version of the original partnership established back in 2009.

The agreement sets the stage for exciting developments in Kochi's horticultural sector. In the coming years, the region will focus more on integrating AI and robotics, as well as expanding production on a larger scale. According to the municipality of Westland, the Dutch greenhouse horticulture cluster is eager to support and share its expertise in all these areas.

A long-standing relationship
Westland and Kochi have maintained an official horticultural partnership since 2009. Every year, delegations from both regions visit each other, bringing together businesses and educational institutions. The aim has always been to learn from one another and to keep advancing sustainable methods for producing healthy food.
