At The Blueberry Convention, October 8-10 in Seattle, the North American Blueberry Council will recognize and learn from the industry's female changemakers and honor Lorrie Merker with the first-ever Women in Blueberries: Elizabeth White Award.
Merker, former vice president for MBG Marketing, has devoted more than four decades to the growth and integrity of the blueberry industry. In her various roles, she has influenced grower engagement, cooperative development, policy navigation and industry representation at the state and national levels. She's known industrywide for her steady, inclusive leadership and generous mentorship. Throughout her career, Merker empowered new voices at MBG and guided emerging leaders – particularly women – in the agricultural and cooperative spaces. She led with clarity, compassion and credibility, earning the respect of growers and colleagues alike.

In addition to celebrating Merker, attendees will take in the education session "Breaking Barriers - Women Leaders in the Blueberry Industry" where the journeys of women who are shaping the future of the blueberry industry will be in the spotlight. From family farms to boardrooms, these leaders will share their stories of resilience, the challenges they've faced and the breakthroughs that helped them rise.
