Vietnamese fruits attract buyers in Hong Kong 2025

Vietnamese fruits are drawing international attention at Asia Fruit Logistica 2025, held from September 3–5 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, China.

The trade fair has brought together 760 exhibitors from 42 countries and territories and is expected to attract around 13,500 visitors. Vietnam's fruit specialties on display include durian, dragon fruit, banana, mango, coconut, and pomelo. These products were identified as key highlights, drawing interest from both local and overseas partners.

As part of the 2025 National Trade Promotion Programme, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (Vinafruit) coordinated the participation of 22 enterprises with 24 booths. Exporters such as the Chanh Thu Fruit Import-Export Group, Vina T&T, Pico Agriviet, Ant Farm, Agrochain Vietnam, Phulimex, and Saolafarm joined the event. On the opening day, several Vietnamese firms secured high-value contracts.

According to Vinafruit Secretary General Dang Phuc Nguyen, buyers from China, India, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and the Middle East showed the most interest in Vietnamese fruits. Durian was the main attraction, followed by dragon fruit, banana, mango, and coconut. He noted that repeated participation by Vietnamese companies reflects the fair's effectiveness. Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports increased from US$3.5 billion annually before the COVID-19 pandemic to US$5.6 billion in 2023 and US$7.1 billion in 2024. Nguyen cautioned, however, that 2025 may present challenges, with stricter quality requirements in China and retaliatory tariffs in the US limiting the potential for further growth.

Nguyen Tuong Vy, General Director of the Chanh Thu Group, described the exhibition as an opportunity for brand promotion, business development, and planning future growth. She noted that this year's edition was more dynamic than previous years, with more partners visiting Vietnamese stands. Vy added that exporters should strengthen brand promotion, maintain their presence at Asia Fruit Logistica, and invest in deep processing to add value and expand international reach.

Liu Guiwu, Procurement Director at China's Hunan Greenery Fruit Co. Ltd., said his company has increased imports of Vietnamese fruits in recent years, supported by improvements in quality. With longstanding ties to several Vietnamese exporters, the company plans to further expand cooperation. He noted the strong potential for Vietnamese fruits to reach additional markets.

Participation in Asia Fruit Logistica allows Vietnamese exporters to present a wide range of products in line with international demand, connect with global buyers and suppliers, explore new supply chain solutions, and expand market access.
